Today (October 31, 2024) at 09:09 AM, Walailak University held a ceremony for the Royal Command appointment of Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong to serve another term as President of Walailak University. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Suwat Chansuk, Deputy Governor of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, Mr. Teerachai Chemnasiri, Chairman of the University Council, University Council committee members, executives, staff, students, heads of public and private sector organizations, honored guests, and media representatives at the Main Auditorium, Thai Buri Building.

The ceremony began with a procession carrying the Royal Command into the ceremony venue.

Assoc.Prof.Dr. Suwit Wuthisuthimethavee, Vice President, read the Royal Command. Professor Dr. Sombat then paid respects before the royal portrait of His Majesty the King, presented ceremonial offerings, and accepted the Royal Command.

In his acceptance speech, Professor Dr. Sombat expressed his gratitude, stating:

‘On this occasion of His Majesty the King’s Royal Command appointing me to serve a second term as President of Walailak University, effective June 30, 2024, I am deeply grateful for this highest honor bestowed upon myself and my family. I fully realize that serving as President of Walailak University is a crucial responsibility for national educational development, requiring extensive knowledge, capability, and dedication to maximize benefits for students, the education system, and the nation. This includes developing Walailak University into a quality institution and leading research university with international standard education, producing graduates recognized by society, fulfilling the university’s founding intentions.

I hereby pledge to perform my duties with loyalty, honesty, and adherence to good governance principles, prioritizing national interests to advance Walailak University, local society, and the nation.’

From 09:30-10:30 AM, Professor Dr. Sombat delivered a special lecture on ‘Future Development Direction of Walailak University in the Next Decade,’ followed by a presentation of congratulatory gifts from honored guests from 10:30-10:50 AM.
