Digital Technology Center staff participated in a wreath-laying and homage-paying ceremony to commemorate the Memorial Day of King Rama V’s passing.
Asst.Prof.Dr. Thimaporn Phetkaew, Acting Director of the Digital Technology Center, along with the center’s staff, participated in the wreath-laying and homage-paying ceremony to commemorate King Rama V’s Memorial Day.
On Wednesday, October 23, 2024, Walailak University, led by Assoc.Prof.Dr. Sarawoot Palipoch, Vice President of Walailak University, together with Asst. Prof. Dr. Thimaporn Phetkaew, Acting Director of the Digital Technology Center, Mrs. Natrada Lakhaphan, Mr. Pongthon Rudeeakaraseree, Digital Technology Center staff, and Internal Audit Unit personnel, represented the university in the wreath-laying and homage-paying ceremony to commemorate King Rama V’s Memorial Day.
The ceremony was held to honor King Rama V’s legacy and commemorate his passing on October 23, 2024. It served to express loyalty and gratitude for His Majesty’s dedication to various royal duties and his governance that brought stability and prosperity to the kingdom. His achievements included reforming public administration, finance and treasury systems, education, and public utilities, which led to the country’s modern development. He abolished slavery and the corvée system, and integrated both Thai and international governing principles in administering the kingdom. He successfully protected the nation’s sovereignty and independence, earning recognition for his capabilities and prestige among civilized nations.
‘Piya Maharaj Day’ marks the anniversary of King Rama V’s passing. He was deeply beloved by the Thai people for his benevolence in governing the kingdom and bringing happiness to all citizens. The Thai people unanimously bestowed upon him the title ‘Piya Maharaj,’ meaning ‘The Great Beloved King.’
